Siemens, in partnership with ARRTSM, announces a forward-thinking initiative to develop autonomous robot systems fully controlled by the Sinumerik 840D sl CNC platform. The collaboration focuses on bringing CNC-grade precision, synchronized kinematics, and scalable autonomy into next-generation robotic cells.
Project Highlights
- CNC-powered autonomy: Utilizes Siemens’ flagship Sinumerik 840D sl control system, enabling simultaneous robot kinematics and synchronized operations via CNC channels.
- Seamless Run MyRobot integration: Robots and CNC machines operate in harmony through Siemens’ Run MyRobot suite, supporting applications from handling to precision machining and hybrid tasks.
- Advanced Machine Tool Robot platform: The high-precision Machine Tool Robot functionality targets substantially improved path accuracy and productivity for demanding robotic machining.
Why It Matters
| Benefit | Impact | | ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Single-screen operation | CNC operators can control both robotics and machining functions via the familiar Sinumerik interface, reducing the need for separate robotics training. | | Engineering-simplified workflow | Multi-axis motion programming, tool management, and path compensation can be handled in G-code or programGUIDE through the Sinumerik panel. | | Digital twin-ready | Enables CAD/CAM/CNC digital twin integration for virtual build-up and accurate commissioning. |
Strategic Applications
The partnership targets a multi-robot CNC cell capable of handling:
- Precision machining, handling, and assembly
- Automated part loading/unloading and nailing
- Composite machining and hybrid processing
All operations are orchestrated through Sinumerik 840D sl, demonstrating scalability and consistent technical performance.
