ARRTSM Delivers Advanced Machine Programming for Fette Compacting

ARRTSM delivers an advanced CNC and robotics programming solution for Fette Compacting, enabling fully automated batch-size-one production with integrated warehousing.

In 2017, ARRTSM successfully developed and implemented a comprehensive machine programming solution for Fette Compacting, delivering a highly automated, flexible manufacturing system designed for batch-size-one production.

Integrated Manufacturing Architecture

The project orchestrated the seamless integration of:

  • Three CNC machines
  • One industrial robot
  • A fully automated raw-material and finished-goods warehouse

All components were synchronized through intelligent software logic to enable uninterrupted, autonomous production.

Key Highlights

Intelligent Raw-Blank Handling

The robot autonomously selects raw parts (Rohlinge) from the warehouse and delivers them directly into the CNC machines—eliminating manual handling.

Dynamic Job Selection

Once a part is loaded, the system automatically:

  • Identifies the correct CNC machining program
  • Selects the appropriate tooling configuration

Continuous Production Flow

After machining, each finished part is routed directly into the finished-goods warehouse, ensuring a closed-loop, end-to-end production process.

Flexibility at Scale

The system was designed to handle single-piece orders, enabling true batch-size-one manufacturing—an essential capability for personalized and on-demand production.

Why It Matters

This automation solution transformed Fette Compacting’s manufacturing line by delivering:

  • Minimal setup time, enabled by automatic program and tool selection
  • Optimized production efficiency, eliminating idle time between machine operations
  • Scalable flexibility, allowing instant adaptation to different product variants
  • Enhanced automation, reducing manual intervention while increasing consistency

Foundation for Smart Manufacturing

ARRTSM’s work on this project laid a strong foundation for smart, modular manufacturing systems. It demonstrated how collaborative robotics, advanced CNC programming, and intelligent warehousing can be combined to power future-ready production environments.

This project stands as one of ARRTSM’s early milestones in delivering autonomous, software-driven manufacturing solutions.
